THE IMPORTANCE OF BYOD
 

At Irymple Secondary College we are constantly striving for student growth and looking at ways to improve our practice to maximise this growth. One of the strategies we have in place next year is increasing our lesson time to ensure that the structure of each lesson allows for effective teaching and learning. The use of electronic devices can be a vital component of the beginning, middle and reflection of a lesson. For this reason, we are wanting to remove any barriers in students bringing their devices to school.

We do have class sets of computers but in no way is this enough for one-to-one computing, nor is it effective to borrow sets of computers out for parts of lessons. This results in wasting class time and also doesn’t allow for flexibility within class time. The majority of our feeder primary school have effectively introduced compulsory BYOD and we would like to support families in continuing the inclusion of this essential item for learning.

CHOICES IN ONE TO ONE DEVICES

You can choose to purchase one of the devices offered through EDUNET & JBHifi Education or to outsource this device yourself. Here is a table to support you to make your decision about what to purchase based on our network compatibility and functions of the device.

We want to emphasise that there are two options for purchase. Outright purchase or instalment payments. In the package there are options for accessories. These items can be purchased at parents discretion. There are no compulsory accessories.
